Basic Info
Name:Baku
Bio

Name: Baku

Age: 58

Residence: Little Niblehiem; A house nicknamed Prima Vista

Occupation: Works as the professor and director of all the theatre classes at Balamb university. Is also one of the campus counsellors, although many students tend to take his advice a little harshly. There are many rumours he lets his kids and students run amok of the school for him for certain material purposes.

Personality: Baku can only be describes as a stocky and large man. Beyond his outwardly beastly appearance though-- Baku is basically the exact same way. He’s loud, strong-willed, easily confused and angered, and downright rash at times. His riotous manner is very becoming of a man of his personality. He won’t hesitate to tell you how things are and what is on his mind or shout and bellow when things don’t go his way. Baku is demanding, as he is challenging. Under all of his rough and raucous manner, Baku is found to be quite the family man. He actually cares deeply for his sons, as well as the rest of his family although his methods of showing love and care might not be as textbook and ethical as most people would prefer. Yes, nothing short of smacking his kids hard upside the head (and on most occasions knocking them blankly unconscious) is the extend of showing how much high regard he has for his loved ones.

Biography: Baku has already lived a rather long and fulfilled life. His past can easily be summed up in a few tragic story book lines. He grew up in scummy side of town, in a rickety old house with a parent that raised him with an odd sense of logic, a firm hand and with loose moral support. He was known as that one kid down the street with the dirty and ripped jeans who always had stolen coins and candy in his pockets. That one child with a slightly crooked nose from one too many fights, scabbed knees and a tendency to pick up anything that were shiny and stick them in pockets.

His life hasn’t really changed since then. Baku still possesses his kleptomaniac behaviours and his impulses to get into fights. But it was his sense of group dependency that got him through his life. It was early on that Baku found that there were a few people in the world exactly like he was. People who were going nowhere, living no good lives, stealing and living each day by a single dollar. But with those sorts of lives there is certain goodness, an appreciation for nothingness. Something that had to be banded together and formed into something that would stay afloat.

Upon seeing so many kids tough on their luck when he was well in his forties, Baku decided to make a united group. It was seeing these kids so perfectly wasted to the future that he decided he’d have to give them what was left in his pockets that he had taken. Still living in that old rickety house on the end of the street, Baku ended up taking in a few boys and making them his own. Sons that would have somewhere to make something of themselves inside of continuing to live as street rats in the gutter. His house (later nicknamed Prima Vista by the kids.) became a jungle of rough housing and loud music, a sanctuary for teens with too much time on their hands. His basement was filled with snatched items and stolen goods, he had broken windows and graffiti scrawled everywhere. But, his kids grew up with a new sense of self and sense of family even if his family seemed more like a group of thieves. He gave them the desire to protect loved ones and care for people who can’t keep care of themselves. A family was family, even if they weren’t as thick as blood.

When they grew older, Baku decided to take a more suitable job. He became a director at Balamb University and the professor of theatre arts. Even if he teaches students how to bring about the perfect emotion across a practiced line of script, he’s more widely known for his crazy ways of teaching which usually constitutes a shove or smack to the head rather than a strict lecture (It‘s how he taught his sons respect as well.). His classes have turned out to be pure insanity, filled with creative exercises that somehow manage to teach the students more than they realize.

It’s all of this that has made Baku more known as “Papa Tantalus“ or simply, “Pops”, and if he’s not telling and smacking his sons around, he can usually be found in his theatre bellowing out majestic lines of script.
